  1. Thanks for all of your help on this, I will do my research before I buy it. I usually just leave the patio door open enough for jack to go out or for the cats to come in but with it being so cold I can't. Jack is worse than one of the kids when they were little about wanting in and out, to the kids I could say "either stay out or stay in" I try that with jack and he looks at me with those "puppy dog eyes" and his little head turns from right to left and I can't help but to let him in or out.
  2. I have been looking around for a doggie door for our sliding patio door. Does anyone around here have one or has had one of them? What brand would you recommend? Been looking at this one http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PetSafe-LARGE-DOG-...=item3ca2d7ecd2
  3. Jack has the mange, demodectic mange the non-contagious kind. He started loosing hair on his nose and the spot just kept getting bigger and bigger so we took him to the Vet and learned that he had the mange. The Vet has him on Promeris every 3 weeks, I really don't like putting that much stuff on him it makes him lay around for the day, but about 24 hrs later he is back to normal. We caught it at a small spot and healed it, but he never scratched at it or has he ever developed another spot so I guess that the Promeris works. My in-laws have 2 bc's that scratch all winter and Ralph was pulling the fur off of his feet in patches, she took them to the Vet and they get a shot and she gives them benadryl when it flairs up.
  4. Almost forgot and the trainer also aksed us if we want to start Jack on sheep, and see how he does. OMG I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM ON SHEEP YAYAYAAY.....Come February he is going to be a busy doggie, can't wait
  5. We are trying to make this a family thing with us and Jack, in pratice Jeremy was at the end waiting on him he has a connection to him but not like to me or Nicci I am trying to get Jeremy to spend some constructive time with Jack and build a stronger bond with him. Jeremy works long and crazy hours in a week not set hours like mine so of course we take care of Jack a little more than him. Just after one pratice I can see that Jack is more perceptive to him, listens a little better to him on his commands. Before Jeremy had a hard time with come, now all he has to say is come and Jack is right there. I am going to let Jeremy take the lead on flyball and let them buld this bond that a man and his dog need, not the mothering bond that I or Nicci have with him. Flyball is all that Jeremy has talked about since saturday, how good he done and how proud he is and how he can't wait for next saturday. Glad to hear him talk about something other than work for once, shoot I am not an electrician but from listening to him talk I could wire a house by myself. He has even called some of his friends and his mother and wanted them to bring their dogs next weekend for flyball. I was really impressed with the trainer, we are starting agility with her on Feb 1st and she is not requireing us to do obedience class first. She said just from watching him in flyball class that he would be excellent in agility and that he has his basics down enough for agility, but Nicci or I would probably have to do the agililty untill Jeremys recall with Jack gets a little bit stronger.
  6. We had so much fun, Jack did very good for his first time. This is going to be good for him he made so many friends in pack play. He was so tired when we left his was almost a sleep before we left the drive way. I am so proud of him he is such a good boy. We are going to try to get him to play with a tug, he loves his toys but they do not have the recall (if that is what you would call it) we need like the ball does. Matt wrestles around with him and the ball so we are going to have him start with the tug as much as those two play he should love it in no time. I do admit I was so nervous at first but the people there were so nice and helpful, I can't wait for next Saturday for the next pratice.
  7. I am so excited we get to go to our first flyball pratice tomorrow. Never attended one before or had I ever heard of flyball before owing Jack. While milling around here before I registerd did I learn of the sport and thought this would be a good way for him to expend his energy. We are going to start agility but he has to attend their obedience class first, we start obedience class in April for 6 weeks then in to agility. I was just wondering since I am new to this are there any tips, advice, etc.. that I should know as a novice to flyball and agility.
  8. The owner of the clip has removed it fromYou Tube, did not get to see it but from what I hear I am glad I didn't.
  9. Another funny storry, well kind of funny I was the one who had to give Jack a bath that was not the funny part. Jack is infatuated with the garden hose he loves to play in the water he was about 4 months old and Jeremy was mowing the lawn and thought he could just releive his self out side since his shoes were dirty and he is after all a man... Well Jack thought the stream was the water hose all I hear is "TAMI....HELP ME" ran out side to a soaking wet little guy chasing the stream and Jeremy turning in circles to keep Jack out of the stream..... needless to say Jack needed a bath badly after this this broke Jeremy from going when Jack is out side
  10. I don't know yet Jack still squats.... He is 10 mo old when should he start hiking his leg? He is around other dogs to see them hike their leg but at home the only animals are his cats and they don't hike. Shoot Ralph (in-laws bc) is three and still squats I think cause it takes to much time for him to hike his leg, last time he did he was pointed the wrong way from the tree not really a good example for Jack She has a pic of him doing it I will have to get the pic and post it, it is so funny.
  11. I think Jack has some hording issues LOL this is just the pile that makes it to bed everynight he has 4 sepetate piles one in our room for bed as you can see one in each of the kids rooms if one toy that was in matts room ends up in niccis room he has to go through them and arrange them just right. He has another pile in the living room that he keeps pretty neat those are the ones he likes to take out side and run around the yard with. I think he has doggy OCD LOL
  12. Jack does not mind either way, I have it on him always just incase he escapes only time it comes off is bath time. All you have to do is mention walk and he brings you his leash and goes to the front door and waits. Plus I like the advantage to know where he is at all times even if I can't see him I can hear his tags, sometimes he looks at me like how did you know what I was doing when you could not see me mom. Learned this lesson when the kids were younger with bells on the shoes, as long as I could hear the bells I knew where they were they figured it out tho...Would still love to have bells on their shoes now even at 17 and 14 LOL.....
  13. I have been trying to talk my siginificant other to get a playmate for jack because he needs someone to play with, his cats do not play like he would like them to. The "big man" (is what we call the significant other cause he is 6'2' and jack and myself are a little on the short side) says that we do not need another one right now and jack would jealous because gets jealous when I pet his cats or other family memebers animals (not just jealous he blocks them and wont let them in my reach). I see his point of view but this time I want to get a dog from rescue (there is one I want sooooo bad at a rescue now she is so cute http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaype...petid=15498716). Other than just going to get her with out his knowledge, that would not be good its not nice to make the big man mad..lol anyway... I think a playmate would be good for him, maybe get him out of this jealous thing. But on the other hand it might not work out like I want it to, and I don't want to get her and they not get along..... Has any one on here ever fostered any dogs, was thinking about that to see how they get along but it is already love at first sight with just the pictures don't think when the time came I could let her go.
