Misha is being given up by her family of 7 years due to allergies. She is located in the Nashville, TN area and is a blk tri rough coat weighing 55 lbs.
She has not had any shots or heartworm since she was a puppy angry.gif , fingers crossed she is heartworm negative.

My sister saw her posted on a FREE DOG flyer in a pet food store, I've contacted the owner and am trying to help him find a BC savy home for her.

If you know of anyone looking for a dog or a rescue in the TN area please let me know. I live in IA so my help is limited to the internet.

Detailed info and pics of Misha can be found on her webpage at: http://www.bethann.us/misha

Thanks in advance,
Beth Ann Ziebarth

There are East TNBCR and West TNBCR. You might try their websites and contacting them about this poor dog.

Some people, geesh! Thanks for caring!

Sue beat me to the idea to contact East and West TN BCR. smile.gif I think both rescues have volunteers and transport available from the Nashville area, so it may work out very well for all concerned if one of these rescues can take Misha.

Is there still "rescue" in TN that should be avoided like a plague-infected flea? Granted, that "rescue" might not be interested if Misha is indeed spayed, but still, better safe than sorry.

Ah, yes, always good to be cautious...but that "rescue" was raided by the HSUS last September, with about half the dogs surrendered and the other half seized (and eventually also given up). As far as I know, it's still shut down, and part of the legal decision was a limit on the number of dogs the person is allowed to have in his possession.

Glad to hear it's still shut down- wasn't sure about that. Never know about sneaky people... unsure.gif

I know what you mean! I've definitely been keeping eyes and ears open (since I live nearby) because I think it's worth remaining vigilant.

Update: I've sent an email request to W TN BC Rescue asking them to do a courtesy posting of Misha on Petfinder. The email address they have on Petfinder bounces back so I went sent the request thru their webpage form. I've also requested the owner have a heartworm test done and provide a video of Misha.

From looking at the E TN BC Rescue website it seems they are a place for several rescues to post dogs. If I not correct please let me know.

Thanks,
Beth Ann

I'm not sure I am understanding your question correctly, Beth Ann. East TN BCR does have several referrals/courtesy posts on its website, but it is also its own rescue organization (not just a referral service).

Here, for example, is the link to its own "Adoptable Dogs" page: Adoptable Dogs. And here is the link to the referral/courtesy posts page: More Adoptable Dogs. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the links. E TN does have their own site, I got it wrong and apologize for my mistake. It is the Appalachian Mountain BC Rescue that is a collection of sites.

E TN did respond quickly to my request for a courtesy posting. They will only post a fully vetted dog so I am now working with Misha's owner trying to get her vetted. The owner told me he can't afford it so I have offered to cover the costs. I found a link for low cost spaying and neutering in the Nashville area (http://www.nashvillehumane.org/spayneuter/lowcost.php) so will contact these clinics for prices. Does anyone have recommendations for a rescue friendly vet in the Nashville, TN area?

The owner really does care and love Misha and is concerned she find a good home. I just wish people would keep their dogs for life and not dispose of them when there is a bump in the road like allergies. I'm allergic to animal dander too, but take meds for it. While I was emailing the owner he also told me he had Misha shaved for the summer sad.gif

I really do appreciate the help, it is frustrating for me being in Iowa and Misha in TN.

Thanks,
Beth Ann

Thanks for the update, Beth Ann, and for continuing to try to help Misha. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be, but I am glad that she has you on her side, both to get her vetted and to help her find a new home!

The only Tennessee vets I have used for rescues are located north of Nashville and are not ones I would especially recommend. I'm sorry not to be of more help.

Any updates on Misha?
Beth Ann Z
I sent a request to BCRETN for a courtesy listing and they graciously offered to take Misha into their program, Misha's owner also agreed to give her to a BC rescue.

THANK YOU BCRETN for this generous offer. Misha should be moving from Nashville to Knoxville this week or next.

I just realized that I forgot to thank Olivia and the other good folks at ETNBCR for bringing Misha into their program! Hope she has an easy trip to Knoxville and finds a new family soon!
