For the 5th year, I competed in the stockdog event at the Calgary Stampede. Despite its lofty name, it's not really a world-class trial, but it is a whole bunch of fun. Lou and I had some problems at the pen which are well-documented on another thread on this board. Rex and I had a whole lot of problems involving not eating sheep. Posted Image Still, it's a real rush competing in front of a large crowd, with your name in huge letters on the scoreboard. Oh, and there's cowboys, like, everywhere. Posted Image

Lou and I at the post. This is my interpretation of the cowgirl slouch.

At the pen. No, they didn't go in.

Rex is kinda ready to go, dontcha think?

And the walk of shame out of the arena. Posted Image

The sheep sometimes got stuck on the boards. Here is Jamie's Roy, asking them to move along.

Rex's mom, Trax, won the aggregate for the trial.

Great photos, as always, and sheep can be rude!

Fantastic photos! You and your boys are so cute. :) Who cares about stupid pens?

I love little Soot! And Meg is just freaking adorable. She was awesome, I got to see both of her runs.

Yup! Just running Lou (I don't think Kingston is ready for the awesome that is Rex). I think we're about 63rd in the first round (there's 150 dogs) and somewhere in the 20s in the second go. I'm not sure how many dogs are going to run each day, but I'm pretty easy to spot, as I am the only Japanese handler Posted Image. Also, you've surely seen enough photos of Lou, you'll be able to spot us! Please come find me, I've enjoyed reading your posts, and of course, I'll need to see that puppy of yours!

That's great! I'll definitely be watching for you and the famous Lou :) As for Flint...he's staying at home. Once a year, I get to escape the farm with no responsibilities to anyone or anything but me....this year, it's the sheepdog trials :)
I tried to find the 2012 running schedule on line, but so far they only have last years. Are you running Friday & Saturday?

I believe that Nursery goes on the Tuesday (August 7th) and then the Open trials are two days each (round 1 is Wednesday and Thursday, and Round 2 is Friday and Saturday). The double-lift is on Sunday. The run orders aren't official yet, as Amanda sent them out and asked people to report any errors, so I guess she's waiting to hear back before posting them.

Good for you for escaping the farm! Looking forward to meeting you!

I like them all (although there were no cowboys in them).

I think I like the one of Rex ready to go haha I don't think he could have stretched any further.

I know you've seen this one already, but here are some cowboys (and cowgirls). Posted Image

Yeah, he's pretty keen to get going. Rex may have faults, but lack of try isn't one of them!
