  • Interests:Training stockdogs (duh), particularly for everyday, practical work. I trial my dogs on cattle when time and money permit. I also teach academic writing at one of the Cal State University campuses, so in recent years I have been merging writing with stockdogs. I published Working With a Stockdog in 2009 (Outrun Press), and am working on ideas for a second book...

I'm anxious to see it, too. They were filming last year at Soldier Hollow, after following a few handlers preparing at home. We had a guy up top with us (at setout) the whole time, and they were friendly and very respectful of what we needed to do (so they stayed out of our way). I know they got some fantastic footage, and I can't wait to see the final version and how it's been edited,

According to their Facebook page, the video and now also the audio portions are now "locked". They're looking for photos to use to advertise the film (so all you photographers out there - here's your chance!).

I can't wait until it comes out, and I will most definitely be buying the DVD. But I'd love to go see it in a theater as well.

they've already picked a final photo for the poster as well. I'm excited to see the movie as well.

its coming soon!

from the movie's FB page:

Hi everybody, thanks for your enthusiasm and patience. We're excited to report that the movie will be released for sale in about 10 days!! It's just in time to be the perfect Christmas
gift for the herder or dog lover in your world!

The new website is almost complete, and you will be able to purchase the DVD directly from the website and also via Amazon.com. The price will be $19.95 (USD) plus shipping and handling. Check back in a few days at http://www.sheepdogmovie.com/.

The bonus materials are really engaging as well, and include the winning Gold Medal run in its entirety (filmed with 5 cameras on the course), and with 3 separate audio choices -(1) the ongoing P.A. commentary as if you were in the stands, (2) the judge's commentary on the run, including scoring, and (3) the handler's own commentary. Also included is an introduction into training/starting your young herding dog.

Here's a link to the trailer:
