I popped into a pet store to buy a clicker for my agility class. A local herding/aussie dog rescue was having a meet and greet with some of their rescue pups. My jaw hit the floor when Loki's twin walked past.

Kiah is a one year old, double blue merle, white headed with blue eyes and the same ear carriage. Like Loki, she is a puppy mill border collie (akc) but she was dropped into rescue early when it was discovered that she was deaf. She has been taken to sheep and was keen but hasnt done much with livestock.

The rescue was having a Dirty Dog Bath fundraiser so I went home and scooped up the perpetually dirty Loki. Loki loves having a bath so he had a great time. He played with Kiah and wigglebutted up to everyone. We had fun and I think I might get further involved with this rescue.

Loki is a squirrelly nutbar but all of his issues come from being confined for the first 7 months of his life. Pretty miss Kiah has no issues other than her deafness. I've never considered deafness to be much of a hindrance to a dog in a careful home. I dont think I'll adopt her even tho I do have space. I think I'd rather take a dog in need or select another carefully bred working pup.
Kiah doesn't Need me....kind of hard to explain but she will be fine where ever the rescue places her.

It would be kinda cool to have 2 Lokis tho.

I've never considered deafness to be much of a hindrance to a dog in a careful home.

At adoption events, our booth is often close to the Amazing Aussies booth -- they specialize in double merle (lethal white) dogs, so I have met plenty of deaf and blind dogs. They live, unaware of their handicap, and enjoy life pretty much like any other dogs,
