Well, everyone how time flies! Eluane's birthday is coming May 6 and I was supposed to do a video composite to celebrate her sixth year..... starting from puppyhood to the now! But I had to wait to get a new laptop because I work with video programs that my long outdated workstation can no longer handle....Well, it ended up taking 2 months to get everything configured and working smoothly
and still video takes gobs of time so I can tell I probably will not get done! But in the meantime I was busy testing out preliminary runs with some of the dancing-for-fun videos that Eluane and I are doing. We are not! doing any sort of freestyle, lol! but just having fun. I first shared the videos with 2 of my friends here-- Pam has told me that litte E needs some work, but I think it's because I backed her too far into certain corners in the room and that it's me who needs the work, haha!... Eluane and I have other styles of dancing that we enjoy doing, so I will probably try to composite a few others for her birthday video but knowing how slow I am-- it may be next year before we post Eluane's delayed BDay viddy, haha!

As for me, I've lost tons of my original ballet skills after a long 23 year hiatus. Haven't performed for over 23 years and my 46 year old joints cannot keep up anymore, haha! So I've got tons of re-training myself to do... Both Maja and I will be shaking our heads on how much technique has been lost....
P.S. to go with the theme of Easter, here are some of my favorite photos of Eluane in the garden at my home...

Happy Easter everyone!

Thanks, Maja! and we love seeing Bonnie's videos and photos too! She is such a gorgeous and sweet princess!
But I was thinking eeesh, both you and I would both be cringing and both covering our eyes at all the lost "turnout"
plus in certain areas my feet get "heavy" in the angles of the footwork...It's so tough when you look and see all that is going "wrong", lol! and since you and I both have performed and trained classically this stuff gets pretty maddening....
Also what's maddening I find is the video itself. Because I prefer dancing at night, something about shadows and of course when you do stage dancing your imagination gets "freed". But video is very light-dependent so if it's too dark the video is ruined because the camera cannot get enough light so I was forced to make duotones and also increase contrast levels. These contrasts take computer processing power so sometimes the computer will "crash" too and you have to start all over again.....With Eluane's birthday video you have to transition between different video clips in a very smooth way or else it becomes choppy or "cheesy" and some of my old videos are a different resolution than the HD so I have to come up with "filler material"... I don't have live footage/video experience unlike 3D animation. They are completely different fields and specialties so it's sort of like "limping" along, lol!
Also I have no freestyle knowledge at all. The only way possible it seems to coordinate training moves is to use clicker. I was telling Pam for example, if I lift my leg in an arabesque I'd want Eluane to tightly circle one leg while I'm balancing and some of that difficult routine is very hard to do while balancing, prompting so somehow I have to get that clicker knowledge as well. We'll do this after Eluane's agility career is over and done with, lol! So doing prompting with one leg, holding it up, while Eluane goes underneath
definitely I have to balance my leg for extended long times while Eluane is learning at the same time, requires tons of re-training for ballet instead of a leg falling onto my dog, haha! while mid-transition training.... Another thing is that we need to rent a space so I can jump and leap with her. It's very hard to do this in the living room and there are different types of ballet leaps and we need to try to find ways to explore different ways for Eluane to use her agility jumps alongside my leaps... So again, this ain't gonna be easy. Plus I will again be reminded how terrible my dancing has degenerated once it's video'd, haha! Jumping you absolutely must maintain that turnout or else it will look dreadful so I have to my splits and positioning over and over until I get it right. AAAAAUGH! How I regret those 23 lost years!
