The People's Border Collie Gallery is extremely content-heavy -- it has about 233 pages of topics going back to 2005. I am going to start removing older threads, leaving anything posted in 2011 and 2012, but deleting topics older than that.
If there is any particular thread you would like me to save from the period before 2011, please email or PM me a link to that thread within the next week.
I regret having to do this, and thank you all for your understanding.

Thank you for pointing this out, it is annoying having to scroll thru everything that's already been said.As a reminder, trimming posts would be helpful and is considered an expected courtesy. When responding to a post, trimming to include only that portion that is germane to the point being made would conserve a significant amount of bandwith.

Yes, thank you for pointing out this very useful idea. It is only polite and it certainly will save space/bandwidth/whatever. (I also wish people who reply to lists like Sheepdog-L would remember to do this, or repeat only what's necessary in their replies.)Thank you for pointing this out, it is annoying having to scroll thru everything that's already been said.

As most of you probably know, the Boards have suffered two crashes in the past month or so. We are being told by our website host that we have too much content for our server to accommodate. Therefore, I have begun removing some of the older posts from some topics.
Actually, I volunteer to have my posts deleted. I usually don't think before I type, and I would just as soon have the evidence obliterated.

I think a lot of the storage is taken by the uploaded images, not as much the linked images - although I have no idea if that really matters.
I know I almost never click on files uploaded in the Gallery, as they often are humongous and 99% disappointing in content.
Could we disable the upload file or limit the file size to something a lot more manageable?

We will be moving to a new web host this week, which we believe will help greatly in coping with the size issues. I've announced this already in the other most-used forums. To make the transition, the Boards will be shut down late tonight or early tomorrow morning. They will be down for about 48 hours -- could be a little more, could be a little less. We'll know better how much old content can be retained after we're up and running again.
