If a person is contacting a breeder there is a good chance they do NOT want a "rescue".

Yes and no. Not everyone is aware of rescue and how fostering in rescue does such a service to help a dog be more adoptable and make matching a dog with a potential home so much more available.

Do you know any of the foster homes that are fostering some dog? You could always NOT bring up the fact they are "rescues" but say something along the lines of I know "so and so" has a merle looking for a home and give them the contact info of the rescue person. Give them names and make it a person and not an faceless organization.

I think that's a great idea, steering someone in the direction of a dog already looking for a good home.
