Just north of Baltimore. No good shots of the pup playing in the snow, because if I let him do the "porpoise act" in deep snow, he limps for a day oor so afterwards. (This happened in last Saturday's snow as well as a bit in yesterday's). But snow is DEFINITELY the best present, ever. The boys are happy, too, as it now appears they're getting a four-day weekend off school.

HOW much did we get?

I sneer at your pathetic attempts to remove all the snow!

Finally - for perspective - one of these piles is the neighbor's Mini. The other is the snow they dug from their driveway.

There's another winter storm watch for this coming Tuesday night. They're calling for upwards of another 5" of snow. Older son may not be getting much time in the gym, but the snow removal efforts are at least getting some of his muscles in shape for the coming lacrosse season.

Mr. Speedy . . .

Dean Dog . . .

Where do we go? Where do we go?

Drifts in the back yard. The drifts were insane.

The side of the shed where the snow drifted away.

The path I shoveled on the deck. The mound of snow is a drift. I threw all of the snow that I shoveled off the deck.

I actually miss the snow. I love a good storm that dumps a few feet at a time. You go outside, play in it until you get cold, then come inside for hot chocolate and watch the flakes drift down. The dogs really love it too and I think they miss it quite a bit. I was in Kansas City visiting family for Christmas this year when the blizzard hit (yes, it was officially a blizzard). My dogs were literally bouncing with joy when they got to play outside in the drifts. I live too far south now for deep snow. People here freak out over an inch and rush to the grocery store for supplies. We got 2 inches last week and the weather service called it a major snow event. blink.gif

laugh.gif Where I live, if it actually sticks on the ground for more than a few hours, it's a major snow event tongue.gif . 2 inches closes the town down - maybe once every 15 or 20 years. tongue.gif

Kristine - love those pics - especially the first couple. That one of Dean gliding through the deep snow is lovely.

Well, unfortunately, here in Pittsburgh, we are under another storm warning for tomorrow and Wednesday. My area is in a 6"-10" prediction, so that is not looking good. In all honesty, I don't know what we will do with even a couple of more inches. This might be bad. But, hopefully good for pictures!

Awesome pics! I wish Lacee would play in the snow. Like I had posted, we got 32" of snow and are trying to dig out. We just found out that another storm is heading our way....16 - 24" expected!! We don't have anywhere to put the snow!

Up to two more feet, on top of that? You poor woman! Take care!

We don't have a choice, so we do what we have to do and make the best of it.

It really won't be all that long before I'm taking my 2010 dandelion pictures! Hard to believe any dandelions are living under all that snow, but they are. And if they can tough it out until spring, so can I!

When I was walking Duncan recently (before all the snow!), I noticed some daffodils coming up in a neighbor's yard. Yes - a promise that spring is, truly, on its way, despite what the Maryland groundhog said last week!

(Of course - there's a part of me that says "daffodils in early February!?!?! don't they usually emerge around here a full month later, bloom in late March or early April?)

Back in New Jersey, my Mom's crocus's came up in late February some years. Our daffodils usually start to come up in mid-March and bloom in early April. You are probably a week or so ahead of us, though.

Usually when it snows, I enjoy looking at my little boxwoods out front because they are evergreen. They are completely buried right now. Maybe after Wednesday I'll dig them out so I have something green to look at.

I'll let you know if we make it out alive in a couple of days. Poor Lacee is really in the dumps, she really does despise this stuff.

Ditto and oh how I miss snow. I'm from upstate NY, we used to get those snow storms that dumped feet at a time on a yearly basis. I've been in whiteouts where I couldn't see our cars from the window. I loved every minute of it. Granted I didn't drive at that point (was only 10ish). DF and I have plans to move to Oregon or Colorado once I get my PE to be back in the snow. Can't friggin wait. North Carolina just doesn't cut it with the snow accumulation (or preparedness).
