I've been training Mickey, a 3 & 1/2 month old BC mix, for my parents. Yesterday I started training him to ring a bell when he wants to go out, in case I don't notice him sitting at the door. My parents will definitely need something like that, because they might not notice him sitting at the door, which is in a little hall. So I worked with him for two 20 minute sessions, and now he rings the bell whenever he needs to go out. If I don't notice, he rings it louder. It works pretty well, except that he sometimes wants to go out just for a walk. Of course, he always manages to go at least a little. laugh.gif I thought it was pretty smart of him to learn that fast at so young of an age! Next we'll work on always coming when called. He does usually come, but always will be harder, I'm sure, with distractions and other things coming along as the training goes on. But he sure is a smarty (IMO).
