Oh my gosh!!! Went and picked up my new camera last night... the hour and 40 minute wait for the battery to charge was AGONIZING!! tongue.gif

It was pretty late when I got to really play with it, but these are some of the pictures I've taken so far. I'm so excited to get pictures of Lacey... I haven't gotten any good pictures of her since she was a kitten (she's about 2 1/2 now). I'm LOVING the swivel LCD screen, I can get a lot of good angles without killing my neck or back. I have a LOT to figure out on this thing, looking forward to it though, it's gonna be fun smile.gif

Sorry, mostly pics of my cat, Jade will get her camera time soon, she's had way more than Lacey anyway

Welcome to amateur hour... smile.gif

Not sure what the appropriate caption for this is... either "Ahhh too bright!" or "Oh no... now we have to endure THIS all the time?!"

Upon closer inspection, maybe it's not so bad.

Lacey, on the other hand, is not so used to face box time.

"What the...???! Mom you've got some sort of black growth on your face..." or probably more appropriately, "How dare you disturb my slumber!!!"

Allow me to introduce you to Lacey's obsession... little drink umbrellas. More fun than boxes and toy mice combined.

"Umm, are you going to just sit there or are you going to throw this for me?"

"Good... take some pictures of her for once..."

Lacey's favorite position...

"She's right behind me, isn't she?" Ever get that feeling you're being watched?

Jady-Lady

"Ugh, this is so tiring. Let's go to bed... put the #@^% face box away."

Plenty more to come!!!

Great pics. What made you go with the Nikon D5000? Just curious. I love my D50 but would like to upgrade sometime in the next year or so.

I don't honestly know much about this camera yet, a camera shop person I talked to recommended it after I told him what I was looking for. After looking into the details for it, I liked the faster shutter speed for the action setting (4.5/sec vs 4/sec I saw on some other models, I believe) as well as the swivel LCD was a big draw for me as well. Nikon had a pretty good bundle deal with it as well...

Great shots, and I LOVE Jade's and Lacey's color. You've got some great subjects there. Should be fun to see what's next.

Cool! Somehow I'd never noticed Jade's ear-streamers before. And that one of Lacey on the couch is priceless.

oh my gosh... I don't think Jade would be Jade without her famously crazy ear hairs... smile.gif

The only reason you have cats and dogs is to justify buying a camera.

Beautiful pictures. Love the cat.

That's soooooo beautiful! I love take picutres to my dog, but I'm not good at it. My camera is D80, not as good as D5000, but just suitable for my poor skill.

Wow, congratulations!! Amazing clarity in these pictures! I'm not worthy of a camera like that, but if I happened to be given one, I probably wouldn't say no wink.gif

What lenses came with it? And, do you find it heavy?

Great photos by the way!
