I gotta say, he is cute!
I never knew how easily recognizable they were!! You can pick out exactly what is "border" and what is "jack". Pretty cool. But no, I don't want one of those.... -------------------- |

My mother has a jack russell terrier. She is really cute (when she's not barking) and really sweet (when she's not barking) and really good at agility (when she's not barking her way off the dogwalk). . . .
He's really adorable. Too bad I have neither the room nor time for another one right now (of my 3, the eldest is only 4 years old!) A JRT owner I know once said "what's the difference between a terrier and a terrorist?" Answer: "You can negotiate with a terrorist!" -------------------- Rosanne

RDM - Riot is actually a male but still very sweet. People who meet him off the flyball lanes are amazed by his personality and sweetness. He curls up under the blanket at about 7pm every night whether he gets exercise or not. He is the rare one though.
Anyone who wants to know how bad it can be... you don't want to know. I have known a couple and Riot is definitely not like them. I GOT LUCKY. THEY ARE TERRORS... Since you can see the border collie and jrt in the dog for adoption tell me where you see border collie in mine ![]() him doing flyball ![]() and just a sweet face ![]() Yes I would own another one in a heartbeat -------------------- Kim

I have two border collies and two JRTs and I get told I'm crazy all the time. I think it's just like any dog - it's all in the breeding. My girls are from long working lines and man, watch out at a JRT trial or when there is a rodent around but otherwise they are bed poopsies who would rather watch TV than bounce around and bark all day.
As far as intentionally breeding the two - I wouldn't... How could you not love 'em? Gratuitous picture of my little Stella ![]() |

I never knew how easily recognizable they were!! You can pick out exactly what is "border" and what is "jack". Pretty cool. They don't always come out looking that obvious. Most of the ones I've seen are smooth-coated as well. I know someone who has a huge Borderjack -- he is the size of an average Border Collie -- that she managed to ILP as a Jack Russell because he looks mostly like one, only really big (i.e., the exact opposite of what Borderjack breeders are usually trying to get). She simply took photos of the dog with nothing in them to indicate scale and therefore AKC had no idea how large he was. I think Borderjacks are a great idea, if the goal is to genetically engineer the world's worst pet. -------------------- Melanie, Solo the Red, Superfly, and Jett Girl

Eh, you could call him "MoJo" just to have something more polite to put on his page. Anything's better than Muppet! EEK.
He's a really cool looking dog, bummer he's a Borderjack! -------------------- |

My mother has a jack russell terrier. She is really cute (when she's not barking) and really sweet (when she's not barking) and really good at agility (when she's not barking her way off the dogwalk). . . . There are two Jacks in my agility class, and two Aussies (well, one and Tweed) and a "Schnoodle" - the barking is DEAFENING. Our instructor hates us all. Recently one of the Jacks barked her way right off the dogwalk as well. It was most entertaining Here's the last borderjack we placed: ![]() Interestingly, his name is ALSO MoFo - it's actually Tempus, but he rarely gets called anything that would be repeatable in polite public RDM -------------------- That'll Do Border Collie Rescue-Vancouver, BC Canada

The other MoFo is cute, too! I guess that's part of the Evil Borderjack plan...fool 'em with cuteness. It made me laugh as well!! But then I remembered the power of FedEx and a zip code. That's why we pay them the big bucks!! The wee cuteness of the borderjack is how they have managed to infiltrate regular society. Tempus' owner says people are forever bringing their children over to "pet the cute little dog" and she has to do some creative gyrations to avoid small child bloodshed. Also, she curses me to dark and horrible places on a regular basis RDM -------------------- That'll Do Border Collie Rescue-Vancouver, BC Canada

I like the difficult dogs as evident by my grifter gang. But I have my hands full right now, so I thank you very much for not express mailing me a devil dog no matter how deceptively cute the little bastard is.

They don't always come out looking that obvious. Most of the ones I've seen are smooth-coated as well. I know someone who has a huge Borderjack -- he is the size of an average Border Collie His foster home measured him last night - he is 22 inches at the shoulder. Not a wee bugger. Just a bugger. Count me in the minority - I like the name "Muppet"! But no, please do not ship him to me. I am admiring him from afar.
OT, I've always wondered: how DID you convince F. to adopt Tempus? Were hallucinogens involved? -------------------- Kristi

I forgot to mention that I LOVE the name Muppet too.
So, 22" makes him only an inch shorter than Solo, who is a pretty big Border Collie, although Solo is quite a bit more robust than this stilt-legged bugger. If I ever were to bring a Borderjack into my home I imagine he would become Solo's chew toy. What a toxic combo that would be. -------------------- Melanie, Solo the Red, Superfly, and Jett Girl

OT, I've always wondered: how DID you convince F. to adopt Tempus? Were hallucinogens involved? It wasn't me! It was Cheryl. She basically handed Fi Tempus and told her sha had no say in the subject. And yet I still get blamed for it! Something about "being in charge." I don't think it's fair. He is an awesome height dog. This MoFoMuppet though, is apparently faster than ANY of Tia's crazy ass fast flyball dogs. Apparently, he outruns them as though they aren't even there. A flyballers dream ... except so far, he doesn't play ball "Friends don't let friends adopt borderjacks." RDM -------------------- That'll Do Border Collie Rescue-Vancouver, BC Canada
