Here's my gorgeous short-haired border collie, Lego:

6 weeks old, the first day I brought him home. He fell off the back step and into my dad's boots and slept there for the rest of the afternoon.
Posted Image

At 2 years, trying to fit into his "brother's" - ie. Peppi, an older Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - basket, while Peppi is lying, dwarfed on Lego's massive mat!
Posted Image
Posted Image

And at 3 years, with his new adopted puppy, Harry, another Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who thinks that Lego is a couch.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Isn't he gorgeous? :D Does anyone else have a short-hair?

So at what point do you think you can tell if they will be smooth coated or not? I am picking a puppy now and really would prefer a smooth but one pup is mostly black with a little white stripe on the back of his neck and a blaze. I love the mostly black dogs and am leaning towards him. They are not yet 2 weeks old so I have plenty of time.
