gcv-border
OK, not earth shattering, but Torque has this weird (I think) habit of loudly licking his lips when he watches me put peanut butter into a Kong. This behavior doesn't usually happen when I stuff a Kong with other treats. A couple times per week, when I am leaving for a few hours to do errands, I will grab a Kong or other similar stuffable chew toy, and slather the sides with about a TBSP of PB. He will watch me and loudly lick and smack his lips in anticipation. I am not surprised that he shows some anticipatory signs, but I am more used to a dog that may do some panting or drooling or a little happy dance when waiting for food. I guess I didn't know that dogs would lick and smack their lips. Does your dog loudly smack his lips? I mean I can hear him from 30 feet away. Gideon's girl
Micah does an anticipatory whining yawn, head shake. Gideon does nada.
Jescano
Jinx just runs to his crate and stares at me.
Cass C
Lyka and Lily just drool a puddle. Lyka will occasionally lick her lips loudly while I'm eating dinner, depending on what I'm eating.
Tommy Coyote
My dogs all just drool. All over me and the book I'm trying to read.
gcv-border
Torque does a little drooling, but the first few times I heard the lip-smacking sound, I couldn't figure out what the heck it was. It just sort of weirds me out.
GentleLake
It sounds like he's actually anticipating the licking and stickiness associated with peanut butter but not so much with other things. Very interesting.
urge to herd
My long departed Tillie would lick her lips and swallow when I took a bite of something. I thought I was just exaggerating, but I had my roommate watch her closely for a few minutes. He said, yep, she's swallowing when you take a bite.
