Well, I say travel of one hour. But longer is possible with advanced notice. I just don't feel comfortable driving more than 2 hours straight - I think my driving suffers. But, if I were going where I could hang out a while, or even somewhere where I'd like to stay overnight, I could do two hours each way.

And, then again, with the right incentives (and that could just be the dog involved), I could get DH involved. That doubles the distance.

BTW, were I asked to transport to the Worcester, Massachusetts area - or the Atlanta, Georgia area - I could consider Durham NC to there. I have kids I'd like to visit in those areas. Would be a good excuse.

I drove transports in the past and it seems much more active in the winter, for whatever reason. I haven't seen or heard anything ever about any Border Collies going through. Just in case this information is helpful to anyone, there are other volunteers networked for transport. The person I had dealt with in the past was Nancy V., from the yahoo message boards on transport. She is taking a break from arranging transports but still drives. The current Montana coordinator is Tina Gauthier [quailwings@gmail.com]
