Dog vest

Any body use a vest, "Blaze Orange" for their dog when walking in the woods? Its hunting season and our red merle Border Collie is 9 months old and can run like the wind. Often out of site for small bits of time. I ordered one yesterday just to be safe. I wear an orange cap.

That was my thinking.

Our black and white Border Collie was never a concern. This red merle could be mistaken for something else I am afraid. I just ordered a vest like the one pictured in Sue's photo. Thanks for the input.

I never walk my dog in fields during hunting season. Here it's only 2 days a week so on those days we do something else. The other day I forgot it was hunting day and took her to this nice trail, this guy shot his rifle literaly ten steps away from us (not at us, but still). He was behind some bushes and we didn't see each other till after he shot. Tess and I got out of there fast and went for an urban walk instead. Tess is all white with black ears so shouldn't be miistaken with wildlife, but better safe than sorry.

Amazon, Safety Pup SD, come in blaze orange or green. I think my dogs wear medium for Celt and Megan (42# and 35# at normal weight) and Dan wears large (50# noreal weight, and long and lanky).

They are pretty tough, standing up to briar but not barbed wire. They clean easily and are waterproof. Very bright and lots of reflection, too.

Amazon also has less expensive options but I can't say how they compare. Mine are two years old and like new.

We walk the roads or farms where we've checked that no one is hunting that day. Where we are, now, land owners can even hunt on Sunday (on their own land) so hunters can be out any day for several months during bow, rifle, and black powder seasons.
