Cat killer Texas vet update

Judges recommended that she have her license suspended for 5 years. One year after full suspension she can work on probationary status. They Also recommended further class work and community service in a feline shelter or some other related organization.

I guess the recommendation was made to the Texas Veterinary board.

And once again she is appealing.

I've been working in veterinary medicine for over 20 years (as a tech). I am more than disappointed by their recommendation and I hope that the veterinary board in Tx permanently suspends her license. The poor owners of the cat must have been devastated to see a photo of her proudly displaying their family member. Horrible.

I don't know about the owners but I was certainly devastated by that god awful photo. And then she bragged on line that she would not get fired because she was a great vet. Guess she found out that just about the whole world disagreed with her.

She shouldn't be practicing veterinary medicine. I can't believe that she just keeps appealing. She said herself that she is currently unemployable.

She could work in another field of vet medicine, such as pathology, public health (disease monitoring), etc. Of course, they may not want to hire her because of the controversy. I honestly don't think getting her license back will do her any good. No one I know would take her on to care for patients.

I do get very sad whenever I think of this whole situation. I feel bad for the cat, but I even feel bad for her on some level. She threw away her future.

The really pathetic thing is that she had such terrible judgment that she didn't have a clue that what she did was terrible. Not only that she didn't think there was anything wrong with shooting the poor cat, but that she didn't think there was anything wrong with posting that god awful picture on the internet. Her post was that it was her first bow and arrow kill and everybody hates feral male cats so she was really proud of herself. And her parents took the picture. Someone posted that she should be fired and her reply was that she would never be fired because she was a great vet.

And then she changed her story again. Later she said she killed the cat to protect her own animals from disease.

Really, that sounds like what a sociopath would do. No compassion, no empathy, no guilt. And then changing her story because her first story didn't go over well. And she just keeps appealing because I don't think she realizes that she really did anything wrong.

She did throw her future away But it was a future that I don't think she deserved to begin with.

That witch was begging to be prey. If you're stupid enough to post a photo-brag of someone's dead pet that you killed, you're just too stupid to fight for air among pet lovers. She was a veterinarian ffs. Way to market yourself out of business...

Yeah, nothing like a nice witch hunt.

I don't think he saw the picture and the story that she put out on Facebook. No one with an ounce of compassion for living things who saw that picture and the huge awful grin on her face could ever say that people going after that sociopath were on a witch hunt.

And I had the most awful feeling when I saw that picture that the cat was still alive. Then I saw where an expert said the same thing. I cannot get that out of my head. It just makes me sick.

Oh, I don't think it hurts to be reminded that The Witch Hunt is a thing, particularly on the Internet. I just think this one was fairly begging for it. JMO

Glad to be of service.

1. Don't veterinarians take an oath? If so, she deliberately violated the oath.

2. She improperly identified a pet cat as a feral cat. Feral cats usually have a certain look to them, that this one certainly did not.

3. There is a question as to if the cat was even completely dead at that point, due to the postioning of the legs, but she seems to think it is dead.

She demonstrated a lack of judgement. When I take a beloved pet to the vet, I do not want the vet to have problems with judgement. I trust them to be experts in my pet's care and to be compassionate when caring for my pet. I doubt her inner attitude would change, even if she says she would not do it again.

By the way, she was arrested for DWI in July...more demonstration of a lack of judgement. This one, put other humans at risk.

Personally, I don't see the problem with feeling bad for the cat, and feeling sad and/or angry about the woman's actions.

Sure, I want to smack her upside the head with her bow.

No, I would not feel comfortable with her treating my dog or cat.

But it is a waste, pure and simple. And that is sad. It's a waste of two lives. The cat lost his entirely, and hers has been irreparably damaged because of her stupid, vicious and ill-considered actions.

One less cat in the world may seem of no consequence in the big picture. But I am sure the owners of the cat don't feel that way. Unfortunately, we can't ask the cat how he feels about it, but I imagine he would have preferred a different course for the day of his death.

One less vet in the world may seem of little consequence too. But someone - her parents? - paid to put her through vet school. She may have entered training in that profession with an honest wish to be of service to animals and their owners. But evidently the only part of "Animal Farm" that she read was "some animals are more equal than others."

Everyone draws the line in a different place. I swat mosquitoes, but I put spiders out of my house by shooing them onto a piece of newspaper and carrying it out the door. I eat beef and lamb, but not chicken or pork, because I am less comfortable with the standard husbandry practices of the latter.

This woman evidently thought it was OK to shoot a cat on her property. She evidently thought it was a good thing, or why did she post her "mighty hunter" picture online?

I disagree with her. But I saw that photo. I saw it as her expression of the "Some animals are more equal than others" paradigm - a paradigm that I see far too much of these days. It is the most objectionable aspect of a certain presidential campaign that we are daily exposed to.

I feel disgusted and angry about her actions. I feel sad for the waste in the story. The waste of a healthy, loved pet cat, the waste of a career, and the good it might have accomplished. And though I am unable to muster empathy for the woman in the mess that her actions have placed her, I do see that her situation at present is unenviable and very, very sad. Pity is a poor substitute for empathy, but that is all I can muster for her.
