NCStarkey
Hello everyone, We would like to announce a one day Sheepdog Trial Judging Clinic on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Trial & Error Acres, Damascus, MD. We are very excited to have Linda Tesdahl as the instructor, as Linda is an outstanding trainer and handler, in addition to being a well-respected judge of USBCHA sheepdog trials. This clinic will benefit anyone who competes in USBCHA sheepdog trials and will be invaluable for handlers from Novice-Novice to Open. A judging clinic is designed to help handlers understand how they lose points and how many points they may lose during their run. We will focus on each phase of the run separately (gather, drive, pen, and shed), with a lecture session, then judge several runs, followed by group discussion. We will begin at 8:00am and probably finish about 5:00. The cost will be $100 per person. This clinic will be a Benefit Event for the 2017 USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals, so please join us for a great day of learning. Please contact Nancy Starkey at NCStarkey@aol.com for more information.
Alchemist
Rats rats rats!!! Nancy's field is beyond lovely, and Linda is a superb judge (and is GREAT at explaining what should have been obvious ). Unfortunately this is right when we've planned a family vacation. I'm really sorry to be missing this (and for such a great cause!!!). My loss should be the gain of others - even if you don't have a dog to run but want to learn more about the intricacies of sheepdog trialing, I can't imagine a better introduction! And if you're currently trialing a dog yourself - this is NOT about "how to be a judge" - it's about "how to succeed at trialing"!
