How do I bark, Let me count the ways

I’ve been reading about canine behaviour and their communication process – in plain language, how and why they bark (and all the nuances of said skill). Reading is one thing, recognizing the real thing is quite another. So, I asked myself, “John, someone, somewhere must have recorded these sounds. So John, why not ask BC Boards members.” So, here’s my (dumb?) question: does anyone know of a CD or DVD on the interpretation of the various ways a dog barks?

Hi John, good question I'd say. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on something like that if it does exist. Mango, my BC is VERY vocal and after one year I've only managed to decipher some of her barks. The rest is driving me a bit scatty right now - but I'm working on it!

John,

Definately NOT a dumb question. I'm sure dog owners around the globe would love to know what their dogs are saying...I would...or sometimes maybe not.

Anyway, I remember reading something in the news recently about somebody (scientists?) somewhere claiming to have deciphered barks. I'm skeptical but this is what I found when I search for it:

(sorry, I don't know how to make a link)

Keep us posted if you find anything that looks promising.
