Little Bo Boop
Wow, our Texas teams are doing really well in the Nursery class. Very proud of them all! http://www.bluegrassclassicsdt.com/nursery_67.html
kelpiegirl
I've been keeping up with the runs (scores posted) on the Bluegrass open runs. Seems lots of runs went south on the fetch. Anyone there, or who has been, know why? Or, is it just the luck of the (sheep) draw? Seems like it's hard work out there..... My brow beads a bit just thinking of it... kelpiegirl
Thanks Laura- I asked a former judge, and he mentioned that there is a very strong draw back to the holding pens, and if you got a good lift, that didn't mean you were safe, at all, on the fetch. Good luck to everyone who runs! I read a comment somewhere about the sheep wanting to get back to their buddies at the set out..Laura

Anyone there, or who has been, know why? Or, is it just the luck of the (sheep) draw? Seems like it's hard work out there..... My brow beads a bit just thinking of it... The sheep, the distance, the topography, not enough dog, the heat, gripping, going off course, not trusting the dog to read the sheep, not helping the dog...that's some of what I'm hearing as I scribe for the judges. Of course it's hard to attribute the cause for a call of DQ, especially on a fetch, to a single factor. Susan
Pippin's person
The judges are calling people off if the run seems stalled. In one stretch yesterday the judges called off 7 out of 8 handlers because of some kind of stalled fetch - and they almost called off the 8th one. It's rather different from last year when most of the DQs came from grips and the like. In the second round more handlers are retiring when the fetch stalls rathervthan being called off (or so it seems- I didn't check that against scores). @Mark- Shep's run was beautiful. Kelliwic Border Collies
If there's a page with the runs listed in scoring order, I didn't see it. So, since I'm having a hard time with the 7 pt font size and scrolling up and down trying to compare 100+ runs, I threw everything into an Excel spreadsheet. Thought I'd share the top 30 so far (107 runs have been posted as of the time I pulled them). If this is redundant info, please point me to the page where I could have easily seen this! (Sorry for the spacing making it a little hard to read, I don't know how to fix that.) It was on the board under the tent - though I should say unofficial, they'll announce tonight. I talked to the handler with the 144.5, he was certain. juliepoudrier
Hmmmm...well that doesn't jibe with the 144.5 cut off, so I guess we'll just have to wait until someone updates the web site. J.
Pippin's person
The last four to get in hadn't run by the time Elizabeth got those scores, I think. In any case, Macrae, Wilson, Enzeroth and Dimit are in. Chris Chambers is the handler at the cutoff. The scores are posted now.
Shoofly
I missed the late afternoon runs and was really disappointed to see Annie Palmer and Dot had dropped off the bottom of the board for tomorrow.
