Shetlander
Just wanted to post how well Quinn is doing as he recovers from his spinal injury. He is being treated by a chiropractic/acupuncturist vet and still on restrictive activity. While he has some lingering deficits in his rear legs, he is moving better, seems much more comfortable and is acting happier. Photo 6 days post injury, looking a bit like German Shepherd Photo from a couple weeks ago. My happy boy is back.

teresaserrano
That's great! What a relief you must feel I still remember when Tess went blind at 5 mo, I had stoped smoking some months before, and in 24 hours, between having realized something was very wrong and having her seen by a specialist, I smoked 2 packs of cigarets. It's wonderfull he's recovering well.

Shetlander
It is interesting because at the time I could see he wasn’t standing well in the first photo and I knew it took a lot out him to just go out to potty. I didn’t know if his fatigue was due to pain or the pred, which leaves him pretty listless. But I didn’t really see how unhappy he looked. I think I was just so thrilled that he had gone from being paralyzed to walking on his own. Recently, he was being rowdy in the house, getting much too rough with my fragile, old Sheltie, trying to play with the Lhasa (that never ends well) and wanting to run laps, which to Quinn means banking off walls and crashing into my comfy chair. I immediately had him lie down before he hurt himself and exclaimed he was being very naughty. He gave me a cheerful howl, snapped his teeth playfully a few times and smiled, as if to say, “Hey, all I have to do is breathe and walk and you’re happy, remember?” Well, that was the agreement back in July. CMP
So glad to hear this! Congratulations. Not as serious and not as long a recover, but my puppy - at 5 1/2 months is just now getting over a pretty terrible bout of pano that left her nearly crippled - to the point where she needed a support harness to have a pee! She was so unahppy and listless ... seeing her back to her normal, annoying, bothersome puppy self is so wonderful! Like you, I have some moments where I say to myself, "Oh yeah, I forgot what I wished for!!" when she is being a particularly crazy puppy and I recall those "bargain with the universe moments" where I begged, pleaded and threatened the universe to give her her puppyhood back before I got really mad ... *sigh*

Maxi
Great news for both Shetlander & CMP about their respective dogs. The 2 pictures of Quinn really show how much better he is feeling now compared to how he was just before his injury.. not surprised he is jumping around like a puppy (though also understand why you want him to take things slow)
