Are there goats in your county?

You can scroll over the second map to see the goat population by county:

Astonishingly there are goats in my country.

Iceland is not a very goat friendly environment. There is an original goat population originating from the goats Norwegian settlers took along around 1000 ad.

But it is in danger, especially from inbreeding, there are too few left, economically not very interesting, and frankly a pita to keep, though they are interesting and funny animals.

According to the 2014 USDA NASS Sheep and Goat Report sheep and lambs in the U. S. totaled 5.21 million head. That's 2 percent down from 2013.

Smalahundur, are they dairy goats? doesn't seem like there's much for them to browse on.
