This is the same young dog I have posted as before. Her recall is now solid, and I can call her off the field almost flawlessly (90%)(We do go back to ground work when she blows off). Any way. I took her to Cindi Hayden's on Sat. She is balancing well, and will stop/lay down when the sheep are compleatly stopped, however, getting her attention and/or getting her to acknowledge me is almost at a compleat loss. It seems almost as though all she is hearing is background noise. Calling her name, causes no ear flinch, eye contact nothing. She is so focused on the stock. If I were to move away as if walking off the field, or start to walk towards her, she then realizes that I'm there. Any advice to get her to realize that we are a team, and I am in control?

Sorry to be so long getting back to you. I have been hosting a clinic and have been outside and not at the computer for days.

The number 90% is important. Aim for 100%! Also, keep in mind you are getting yo know each other and you are setting the rules for how you want to play the game—remember its how you want to play it, not the dog.

Keep her on that line, let her work freely and if you call her while on sheep and she is to mesmerized, either by eye or attitude, get a hold of the end of that lead and make her give her a pull. She needs to give YOU her attention.

She will come around. Just e consistant here in the beginning and be willing to do foundation work. Then everything wlse will fall into place.

If you go from point A to point C or D, you will cause problems later.
