Our valiant little dog lost his fight today.

His kidney levels were off the charts. We elected not to hospitalize him, the look in his eyes told us enough.

There isn't a strong enough word to express the sorrow we feel.

I am so, so very sorry to hear this.  I know you loved him very much and you tried so hard to help him.  I hope there's some comfort in knowing that you gave him a wonderful life full of love when he was with you, and that you gave him the ultimate kindness in helping him pass gently.  I can't imagine the heartbreak you must be feeling.

RIP, dear Trooper.  There's no more pain.

So sorry. He was a good boy. And you gave him a good life. Guess that's the best one can do.

Awwww. When I saw this 'new topic', I didn't want to read it.

I am so very sorry. You tried everything possible.

RIP Trooper.

Oh gosh.  I am very sorry for the pain you must be feeling.  You gave Trooper courageous and full support, up to and including this difficult decision.  Peace be with you.

I agree with Jovi, when I saw this thread, I didn't want to read it.  I'm so sorry you lost this battle, but you did the right thing for Trooper.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry. I know too well how much it hurts. Take comfort in knowing you gave him every chance you could, and made the best decisions for him.

Truly heartbreaking... young Trooper has been in my thoughts a lot, and I am just so sorry to hear this...  thinking of the times he enjoyed with you (playing, camping etc.) when he wasn't feeling so badly. Such a love...

You gave him the best life you could.  I know that isn't much comfort now, but some day it might be.  Dogs are happy as long as they know they are loved.

I've been reading these boards for months, but I have never posted before.  I wish my first post could say something more comforting, but all I can tell you is that I too have been following Trooper's story and had to take a deep breath before opening this thread.  All I can say is that I am sending condolences and sympathy from another person who was rooting for you and Trooper from afar.

I'm so sorry. I know you are broken hearted. I hope that in time your happy memories of him will help to buffer the grief and I hope that you find peace knowing you did everything you could for him and that the end was also a great act of love. Godspeed Trooper.

So sad to read of Trooper's passing. FWIW, I think you did the best thing for him. You are all in my thoughts.
