So far, I have barely dipped into it, but I chuckled over Donald's account of Welsh roads -- where I grew up and learned to drive. Roads are not even deemed "narrow" until there is a strip of weeds growing in the middle. One of the famous roads near us was know as "fiddler's elbow" on account of it's shape (I think they have widened and eased the sharpness of the curve, since I grew up). Signs are now in Welsh and English -- when I grew up they were mono-lingual. I drove to college through sheep country and occasionally I would take a route over mountain roads via Abergwesyn (also) that was narrower and windier than any other road I have ever driven.
