cometzack Posted June 19, 2016 Report Share Posted June 19, 2016 I have 3 entire male BCs all house dogs 5yr old a 2 yr old and a I yr old. The 2 eldest dogs aren't gettin on very well any more. The eldest is a bit of a grumpy bum,he always growls when asked to do something, barks if he is left behind and quite bratish,.the 2yr old is a bit shy but is starting to gain confidence, humps the youngest who he plays rough games with alot. Do I need to get the 2 eldest neautered or just one of them if so which one do I Neauter. The youngest is a show dog so he needs to be entire. I suspect it's more a lack of leadership and clear communication on your part as to what behaviors will and will not be tolerated in your home. In my experience (and I'll admit it's somewhat limited, though I've had concurrent intact males in the past, so others may weigh in here as well) intact male border collies don't tend to be what I call obnoxiously male as some other breeds, and even then I know a whole lot of people with intact males of many breeds who co-exisit quite harmoniously with others in their homes. You mention one of them is a show dog. I think you should be aware that these Boards don't condone or support in any way showing or breeding border collies for conformation showing. I strongly suggest you read the introductory materials including and especially the Read This First post. For some reason I'm not able to locate in a search ATM to provide a link for you. Thanks to those who have made constructive coments. I will not be posting in this forum again, I clearly will not be welcome because of my show dog and I happen to think people have as much right to show their dogs as others do to work them. But it does seem that people want to believe all the bad hype with keeping a dog intact.
