"To the Border Bred" DVD

The Bluegrass Classic is looking at the possibility of selling the new DVD, To the Border Bred as a fund-raiser. This video about the working sheepdog has been very well received and we may be able to offer it for sale at the Bluegrass (and available to be shipped for about $3 per DVD). Please let me know with your comment if you might be interested so we can gauge if this might be a reasonable fund-raising activity for supporting the trial. And, let me know if you'd like to order one if we get the green light to go ahead with this! If you do, you'll be getting a wonderful video and supporting one of North America's oldest, largest, and most prestigious stockdog trials!

The cost should be about $25, I'm guessing, with about $3 for shipping. There will be a discount on shipping for multiple copies.

We've had a few issues working this out but the one problem we can't work our way around is that while the DVD is produced for "all regions" (including North America as well as UK, Ireland, and Europe) it is in PAL format, which is not the common format for DVD players in North America (it is the common format for UK, Ireland, and Europe). The wonderful producer had her video production person try converting the PAL format DVD to NTSC (the North American format) but they lost too much quality in doing that so it was not feasible. North American computers and laptops can usually play PAL. Many North American DVD players can also. Some don't normally but can be programmed to do so. The issue is that anyone who would like to order the DVD would have to understand that it would be in PAL format and if they did not have the ability to play it on their hardware (DVD player, computer, or laptop), it would not be returnable. The one person I have communicated with in the US who owns the DVD is able to play it on her computer and two out of three DVD players that she tried. My one PAL disk does not play in my BluRay/DVD player but does play in my computer. SO, the big question is how many people might still want to order this DVD as part of a Bluegrass fundraiser? Please indicate if you still might like to order one (or not) by email, please, susan dot rayburn at gmail dot com. We need to gauge if this is still a feasible project. The estimated cost would be about $28 for pickup at the Bluegrass if we can get them in time (plus $3 shipping within the US). If we could be successful with this venture, it would result in a nice bit of financial support for the Bluegrass Classic SDT. I am sorry that I haven't been able to get things firmed up yet but it's been more of an effort to work out the details than I anticipated. Thank you for your interest!

It is looking like this project will get the green light. For anyone who is interested, the video should be priced at $30.25 (which is the same price you would pay ordering direct but a very significant portion of the price will go to benefit the Bluegrass if you order from us).

Ordering details should be available very shortly (PayPal may be an option) and it would be best if you could let me know by email at susan dot rayburn at gmail dot com if you would like us to get a copy for you so that we know how many copies to order in advance.

Thanking you all for your interest and support (and patience)!

Would you please let me know if you are still interested (or not) in purchasing a copy of the To the Border Bred DVD, the sale of which will help support the Bluegrass Classic SDT? We are finalizing our ordering process and need to get a count so we have an idea of how many to order from the producer. This has been a very popular and well-received documentary, and we have a great opportunity to sell copies to help support the Bluegrass with the generous cooperation of the producer.

It will be an all-regions DVD but in PAL format (not NTSC) so it will not be compatible with all North American DVD players but will be compatible with many, and will be compatible with most computers and laptops.

Pricing is $30.25 and please try to order by 6 pm this Friday. I will supply ordering information as soon as that is firmed up.

Please let me know if you are still interested, for our planning purposes.

We are now ready for you to order your copy of the new DVD documentary, To the Border Bred, through our website, with proceeds to benefit the Bluegrass Classic SDT!

Go to www.bluegrassclassicsdt.com, click on the link for DVD (and tee shirts and hats), and select the “buy now” option at the top of the page. That will take you to the page where you can order the DVD via PayPal. (If you have been on the Bluegrass website in the past, make sure to “refresh” each page since the DVD is a recent addition to the website.)

The cost of the DVD is $30.25, whether picked up at the Bluegrass or shipped within the USA.

If you order by Friday evening, your DVD will be ready for pickup at the Bluegrass (May 14-18) or will be shipped to you during the week right after the Bluegrass (May 20-23). Later orders and sales at the trial will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so please order promptly! Quantities will be limited!

The video explores the history of and bond between shepherd and working dogs in the beautiful Scottish Borders and Northumberland. It includes aspects of the different life stages of the Border Collie from newborn to training. A special segment will cover Sheila, the working sheepdog who was instrumental in the rescue and recovery of American airmen downed in the Cheviots in 1944. Border Collie Rescue UK and SARDA (search and rescue organization) are also a part of the video.

Our thanks go out to all those who have expressed an interest in purchasing this DVD and supporting the Bluegrass.

If you have any questions, please contact me at susan dot rayburn at gmail dot com.

Oh, and if you told me you wanted a copy and place your order on the Bluegrass website, please email or message me so I can tick you off my list. If you need to pay by mail or at the trial, let me know so I can hold one for you.

Just to clarify - there is no shipping charge for the DVD. Your price is $30.25 whether you pick up your DVD at the Bluegrass or whether I ship it to you. I apologize if I was unclear about this in previous posts.

And, once again, thanks to all who are supporting the Bluegrass with their purchase of this DVD, and to Alysoun of Shadowcat Films for making this fundraiser possible, Susan Carvalho for getting it started, and Shelby Cook for arranging the PayPal payment option on the website.

Please do not forget that if you want a copy of the new documentary DVD, To the Border Bred, you can order it directly from the Bluegrass Classic website and the proceeds will benefit the trial. Just go to the DVD/teeshirt/hat order page and click on the Buy Now button at the top, which will take you through the ordering process and charge your purchase to your PayPal account. You can pick up your DVD at the Bluegrass (contact me to let me know you want to pick it up) or have it shipped to you. The price, either way, is $30.25. We need to submit our bulk order to the producer by Monday to make sure we get the shipment in time for the trial so time is of the essence! The DVD is all-regions and PAL format.

We are almost sold out of copies of the new DVD, To the Border Bred, to benefit the Bluegrass Classic SDT. You can still order a copy on our website through PayPal for $30.25, or make arrangements with me privately to pay by check or at the trial. Videos will be ready for pickup at the trial or shipped to you afterward without additional cost. The DVD is all-regions and PAL format (playable on some US/Canadian DVD players and almost all computers and laptops).
