Overlapping posts

Did anyone ever figure out why this is happening, and better yet, how to fix it? I remember bringing it up when the new board first came on line, but I never saw if a solution to the problem was ever posted. I tried searching this forum, but couldn't find anything. This is a really annoying problem and seems to be happening more and more, especially with picture threads. It's getting pretty frustrating and I find myself tending to come here less and less often because I get so annoyed with the overlapping posts. Please, someone, tell me how to fix this.

I just saw this, Mary, and I am glad you posted it. I have the same problem and it is so aggravating! I did not have the problem on my old laptop, just my new one.

What happens to me, Heather, is that sometimes I get a page that looks like the posts are "layered" - one will be further up and superimposed on another. It may only happen at a work computer (well, not work computer but the one I use on break sometimes). I know I sometimes get this happening on Facebook (but not at home) where the pictures or buttons are not where they should be but appear higher on the screen than they should be.

On here, when it happens, it's like you had the page with another page right over it, so you can't see beneath. On FB, the buttons can be used wherever they are but the pictures cover up anything beneath them.

More confusing? It's not an issue for me, just something I see sometimes on some computers that I only use occasionally. I could see it being an issue if it's someone's at home or all-the-time computer, though.

Sue, I have the same FB issue, too. But, the overlapping posts happen more often here and especially with threads with pictures. Here's a screen capture to show what it looks like.

Yes, Mary, that's exactly it. In fact, I am not at home now and it is happening on the computer that I am on here. Right now, this reply is piggy-backed on top of Jack & Co.'s 4:40 pm post, and there's a gap between that one and yours - like rather than this being superimposed on Jack & Co.'s post, that Jack & Co.'s post has "slid" down under the reply box.

PS - edited to add that this post was almost precisely on top of Jack & Co.'s when it posted. Weirdness...

PPS - and then everything went "normal" when I posted my edited post. More weirdness...

That's what I see also, Sue. I can't see my last post because I guess it is under yours, but I can see it as I make this reply.

Yep, happens to me too. Work desktop or home laptop. Doesn't matter. I thought I was the only that it was happening to. I have to "refresh" and that usually fixes the problem, but it is annoying.

On some computers (work and elsewhere, not home) I can start out "normal" and then things go strange when I make a reply. Then other topics are still normal where I haven't made a reply. It's weird. I know the places I tend to see this (now that I think of it) are computers that have limitations placed on some of the sites that can be visited. While I can easily visit this site (and FB) on those computers, they have limits on other sites that you can't access. I wonder if there's something to do with controls that causes the problem?

I'll open a ticket about this, but I have a feeling that they won't be able to do anything about it, since it happens erratically and to different users at different times. I think it might have something to do with the screen resolution that you're viewing at. I'll let everyone know what they tell me.

It's not been a real issue for me, Heather. As I said, not at home and only on certain computers at certain times. It's surely been something I can live with but would be real inconvenient as a regular occurence.

Thanks!

With any luck, the problem should be solved. Here's what's been happening: for some reason, the web site wasn't loading fully for some people--it would load enough for you to see the site and read posts, but it wouldn't complete what it needed to. (You can tell that's happening in the screen shots because you'll see the little loading circle in the page tab still spinning.) The boards work by re-rendering the artwork AFTER the page loads (that is, resizing them properly), so because the page never finished loading, that never happened. Since I had been having other server-related issues, this weekend, we moved the whole site to what we hope will be a faster, better server. Everything is loading much better for me now, and I hope it will for you guys as well. Please let me know if you continue to have issues and we'll do some further troubleshooting. Thanks!
