eme_collie
So I have an 8 week old Border Collie, he's been through a lot for his first 8 weeks of life. He's battled ticks and fleas, an eye infection and now his back legs are growing weak. I am wondering if this is normal? We took him outside and he was walking, running, enjoying life but now he's so restless and can't stand on all four. It started with a limp in his left front leg and now his front legs are fine but his back legs are weak. Is this a case of something serious or is he just sore from playing and running so much? GentleLake
Congrats on the new pup and welcome to the Boards. Of course this isn't normal. Have you taken him to a vet to discuss this yet? If not, that would be my fist recommendation. I don't know how long the incubation period is, but if he's already had a problem with ticks, I'd be concerned he may have a tick borne disease. Best wishes with the little guy.
CptJack
Tick borne disease was my first thought, too. Definitely needs to be seen by a vet.
Blackdawgs
He needs to see a vet today possible. Among other things, he could be anemic from fleas/internal parasites
GentleLake
^^ Another good point. I've seen anemic rescues from loads of fleas. Whatever the cause ends up being, I wouldn't delay getting him to a vet.
GentleLake
I was hoping we'd have heard something about this puppy by now . . .
