R/W male smoothie-Baton Rouge, LA

Recommended Posts

I couldn't resist cross posting this stunning fellow. He is in danger, and not doing well in the shelter. They're calling him a hound mix, but I think he looks like a Border Collie or BC mix. He reminds me of Kari on this board, in fact. Anyway, please contact the shelter directly and quickly if you can help. His bio breaks my heart. :(

Putnam is a gentle, sensitive soul, and he's scared-to-death at Animal Control. Putnam is about a year old and he weighs a healthy 38 pounds. He's too frightened to walk on a leash at the shelter though, and he had to be carried outside for these pictures.

Putnam often wags his tail happily when he's safely inside his cage, so once he finds the love and security of a forever family, his cheerful personality is sure to blossom.

Unfortunately, the stress of shelter life has caused Putnam to lose some of his hair, and he now has several patches of raw skin on his neck and sides.

This sweet canine desperately needs to find a patient, caring owner who can give him a soft, dry place to sleep, along with regular exercise and lots of love. Do you have the time and devotion to invite Putnam into your life? If so, please come out to the shelter and meet him today. He'll be waiting for you.

Please...

Please note the CAGE NUMBER of the dog, and use the CAGE NUMBER to identify the dog when contacting Animal Control.

Please call Animal Control at 225-774-7700 or come by the shelter located at 2680 Progress Road, across from the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.

All dogs in the adoption program are examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped prior to leaving the shelter.

This litte guy has prompted me to start a community group on FB --- Can you help this dog? Right now I don't have the time but can someone post him up on there as the first dog?

I need to go dig myself out of 2 ft of snow and get my butt to work.

Thanks.

Great idea Vicki,

I posted him- of course we've got to get more people on the group to get him seen.

IMO he looks pretty unquestionably bc. Does anyone have CHesney's Girl's email? She's on the transport volunteer list. I haven't got time to check for more in that area, but there may be more. His little face is haunting me. Does he have somewhere to go if he gets pulled?

That is true, Nancy, and good news. I saw this update on the other board, he sounds like such a great dog. I wish someone would see that in him. :(

From notes the foster has posted about him on their Facebook page, he is definitely showing BC behaviors. He likes water, frisbees and wants to herd ducks. He's totally housetrained and gets along great with their other dogs. He's also a lovebug.
